We recently took a plane trip to Sydney from Melbourne on VirginBlue Airlines with our Stashway.
This was the first time the Stashway had travelled as 'checked on luggage',and was an imporant
test.
We put the Stashway in its canvas carry bag with its wheels, and slid a sheet of polystyrene down
one side, and a bit of bubble wrap down the other. It weighed in at 32kg. I notified the airline
prior to flying that we were bringing a 'bulky item',and they assured me it would be okay.
The packed up measurements are:144cm long,83cm high,and 38cm wide.
The weight limit on the airline was 20kg,so we would have been charged an extra $30 for the extra
weight, but because we didn't have any other luggage,we wer'nt charged anything. So far so good.
We watched through the window of the gate lounge as our precious Stashway went up the conveyerbelt
into the plane. The flight was good.
In sydney an hour later we nervously waited for our Stashway to come through the doors......
And there it was,in perfect order. We attracted quite a few curious looks from other travellers
as we wheeled the stashway out to catch a taxi.
Somebody asked,"what is that thing?" We got into a Stationwagon
taxi,Stashway in the back and headed for the hotel.
Later we assembled the Stashway in our room for a final polish,as it was being used in a film
clip on Sydney Harbour the next morning.
The Room service attendant came in to our room to deliver a pizza, and was stunned to see a Black
baby grand in front of her.
The rest of the trip was just as successful as the first part,so I would have to say flying with
the Stashway is a 'breeze',......certainly easier than flying with a four year old boy..but that's another story.
